Last Summer day of 2024

DEEP BLUE COLORS gracing the sky over Stockholm today - with temperatures that are about to pass the 20°C, threshold. Sunshine lits all the green in the trees, shining brightly almost like being springtime (!)

Kind of fantastic, mesmerizing and enchanting...

I enjoyed looking around all the time, while on my way home from the post office - realizing how pretty this day actually is. There was no fog, no clouds, nothing but deep blue with super clear air as far as the eye could see.

Over West Sweden, as well South Sweden, and into Norway, as well covering almost all of Great Britain with wide spread fog banks within the calm area of that still strong

The past 15 days I stopped writing about the weather - because it became ... tedious and "boring", kind of bland. I started to wonder "what the heck I bitching about" ?!

So, I stopped.

Nevertheless this September 2024 has been fascinating in many ways regardig weather events. Eventually turned into a prospect of filling many pages in my Diary with just... many more pages of weather talk. So, I quit the subject and stopped writing into my Diary.

Severe Flooding in Central Europe

Unfortunately the low pressure area over Central Europe, which got locked in due to that large Russian / North European High pressure area, resulted into devastating rains, with up to 400 mm rain in the Upper Austria region and severe flooding several countries in Middle Europe. Plus that more than 21 people died.

Nasty stuff.

Yesterday morning

We had very briefly fog which was rather shallow. but i remember also several nights with thick dense fog. Even the night before we had 28°C, it was really filled with dense fog in parts of Stockholm (which made driving the subway adventurous, because you slide all the time, and the breaking action suddenly becomes highly unreliable.

Moon Eclipse

There was the partial eclipse of the moon just two nights ago. Despite only a tiny bit of the moon reached the core shadow of earth - it was still an impressive view to the naked eye. I really enjoyed it. The peak was reached on 18 Sep 2024, at 04:44 here in the city.

Handheld iPhone 15 Pro Max

15 seconds, with the 24mm ƒ1.78 lens in night mode and Apple Pro RAW plus - while the moon was super bright, and the air very clear. It surely can make impressive images in the middle of the night.

I find this "Night Photo" feature (in "max" exposure mode), with Apple ProRAW plus enabled - a truly stunning combo ! The quality you get from this - compared to just JPG in "night mode", is night and day.

Here the iPhone 15 Pro Max night photos, remind me more of what you get with an Olympus camera.

• It was really enchanting to walk from Central station to Gamla Stan metro station... as if you got the city for yourself

• This was already a little bit later, and the blue in the sky intensified as the sun started to rise. I think this is the oldest building / church in Stockholm.
