I never expected - i don't know why - that the Pentax 6x7 lenses would perform so remarkably well when stopped down 2 stops. I mean the sharpness is simply perfect even in micro details (with some very light sharpening applied) - evenly across the whole frame coming from the Fujifilm GFX 50s II sensor.

It really can't get any better then that.

It is of course one thing - how much does one benefit from using large Pentax 6x7 lenses on the Fujifilm GFX camera system really. A relatively small 90mm lens, becomes pretty bulky on the GFX. Already the relatively small 90mm lens, becomes pretty bulky on the GFX. Not to mention once you go a little longer with the 150 mm lens - which looks almost comical and weird. And highly questionable if I ever would go out and about with such combo.

But - the image quality is there. Remarkably good - No doubt. Also better than most third party lenses you could possibily adapt to the GFX system.

90mm, 105mm and 150mm

Remember; i have only tested the following Pentax 6x7 lenses so far: 90mm, 105mm and the 150mm lens. They all play in the ballpark of typical portrait lenses. Each one turns into following focal lengths: 70mm, 85mm and 120mm when adapted to the Fujifilm GFX system.

I also consider those lenses to be serious competitors, after what i have seen this far. I somehow never thought it would be this good (don't ask me why i thought that)

I would have no hesitations using these (for example) for studio portraits - or outdoors in good light. I mean, why not ? After all - i have those lenses already due to my Pentax 67 II camera, and because of the Vertex Rotating Method.

Since I don't have native Fujifilm GF lenses above 70mm... where each new lens would cost me an additional 15-25.000 SEK / 1500 € - I find the Pentax 67 lenses suddenly playing an important option !

Also the adapter plays an important roll: the Pentax 67 to GFX adapter from K&F Concept was in fact a good choice. It appears to be very sturdy - which gives me confidence in using such setups handheld, outdoors. Don't wanna have an adapter with wiggle in the mount...

. . . .. .

Crap shot at dawn

Now the above photo is a crap shot. I mean 1/6th of a seconds with an old Pentax 6x7 Takumar 150mm f 2.8 lens. The micro details are not evident in the original, because of camera shake, but also because of the wind outside. And yet, it still "works" as a smaller photo and with some post processing. Quite remarkable.

These lenses are really good ! Much better than anticipated.

Now that we are in dull December, and frankly I barely go out of the house - my motives are highly limited. Which makes it also more difficult to evaluate vintage lenses on the Fujifilm GFX camera. I wished I had more space and variety when it comes to image motives.
