We didn't do the Clown Series. But we had fun in the studio. This this time it was a more real repetition; for me to see different light versions, but also to get to re-know the various tasks where to find the stuff I need when i need it. How to and all that. Plus then, to interact with Sal as a model.

It was so fun.

And boy, does it go quick to prepare the photo studio ! Barely any hassle. Not much has to be moved to built it up. While afterwards, it goes even faster to take everything away again. Everything is in reach. It is such a joy

Don't worry !

Sal did excuse him of not always being "perfect" (in the sense of not knowing what to do or how to be) - but i told him - that it will always be this "goofy", kind of amateurish. Everything relies on the interactions between him (gestures, movement, positions, additions - and me as a photographer. So, it is the normal state of thing. It isn't and has never been about perfect, or "to know exactly what to do, or how to be".

That is something that appears along the road of photo shooting. That is also part of the fun. There re no "errors" to speak of, or doing something wrong. Because it isn't strictly defined - and i will likely never work in such a professional way either (because I am not interested in that type of "professional" interaction).

I like the personal touch

Between friends and buddies / pals. And I love to work with people i know, or sort of know. And then it will be what it will be. (Often if there is the opportunity, i can do things more refined next time, or different). That too is part of the process. In hindsight to understand what I could do differently.

I had MANY lenses on the table - but used only 3 lenses together with the Fujifilm GFX 50s II on a tripod. There is a LOT of life in those lenses left.

• Canon FD 85/1.2 L
• Pentax 6x7 SMC Super-Takumar 105mm ƒ 2.4
• Canon EF 135mm ƒ2 L

All 3 performed wonderfully

I can't really say that those lenses in an controlled environment (studio) work bad or half-half. All three performed wonderfully ! And the resolution of "only" 51 MP with the Fujifilm GFX was more than plenty. The nice thing was of course, that the shots sits as soon i press the shutter button. That left the model free to do some (limited) movements. However, the depths of sharpness is still very shallow (almost extreme shallow) So, if you move backwards let's say 2-3 cm - then the eye is already out of focus.

Typical for mediumformat photography !
