This August certainly doesn't go down to history as a warm month. On the contrary, rather too cold. Here you can see the daily average temperature deviations from 1-27 Aug 2025. More blue than not. Especially lately, it has been simply too cold. Overall, the monthly average temperatures lies around 1°C below average this far. Now we are entering at least milder nights again; a period of milder temperature, both day and night. Perhaps if we are lucky we make it to 20°C.

This morning the temperature in Stockholm-Tullinge, former military airport, went down to +0.6°C. That's around 7 km from where I live in Southern Stockholm. Notoriously known for cold temperatures at night, unaffected from the Stockholm's city core. The latter which often shows 8-9°C higher MIN temperatures.

Autumn is knocking on our door

For being August, it was/is pretty cold. On the other hand, it ain't anything record-breaking. But it reminds me somewhat of the even colder August months in the mid 80s (Aug 1986, and Aug 1987 being the coldest). Actually Aug 1984, was pretty OK.

Coming from Berlin in 1984 where i later thought, "Huh - what is this. Already that cold in August ?!" Not even to speak of September, which felt really like autumn. More like end of October/beginning of November in Berlin.

Those were the 80s.

Thunderstorms... well, mostly not

We even got something that looked like thunderstorms - albeit in reality (here in Stockholm) it was a matter of a very few rolling thunder in the distance.

And that was it.

Nothing more.

Like playing Ludo. "You're out. And gone"

At least I got some nice dramatic looking cloud images which at times really looked cool.
