It is time...
for frost to make its appereance in the extrem outskirts of Stockholm, as well inland of Middle and Southern Sweden (down to -4°C).
While Stockholm-Tullinge reached -0.7°C this morning. (The station is located around 19 km from the city center) Even here in Snösätra, 7 km outside the center - you can tell the air at night is much more crispy (and clearer) as of lately. In the center of Stockholm the temperature stayed at around 7°C at sunrise.
In that artifical warmth, it takes time until frost takes over the inenr core of our town.
Europe Maximum temperatures
As we have passed autumn equinox, you can tell that the image is changing regarding maximum temperatures. The North, as well West of Europe are now under the spell of lower temperatures. In middle Europe I would say the temperatures are below normal. Unfortunately the original color coding is very wrong - so I changed it to what i consider more to be normal. I mean, when you have green temperatures in the north of Sweden - they should be blue. And then 17°C in Middle Europe is painted with yellow-orange, then that is in reality a temperature below normal. After all - in the end of September, we still have moderate temperatures during daytime. They should be painted in green.
Parody of Meteorology
Notice that France had areas which where very cold with just 10-14°C - clearly much below normal temperatures. So, i changed the color from orange to coolish blue. Because that is actually more equivalent to reality; colder and much colder than normal, should be painted in orange. Because it is highly misleading.
We have nowadays an inflation revolving temperatures vs reality. They paint temperatures in red, even if they are normal or cooler than average.
Talk about deception. It is not ok and more like a parody of meteorology !

High Pressure Area over Scandinavia
After the coldfront passed, and we got much fresher, cooler air - a high pressure area quickly grew in over our lands in Scandinavia. It forces the Atlantic low pressure to make a huge bow to the north, while preventing / cutting off the inflow of cold air from the north.

Mediterranean Basin & Alp region
At the same time, this high pressure area blocks low pressure areas in the south, over Middle Europe / alps - which already lead to torrential rainfalls in certain areas up to 300 mm within just 2 days. This situation appears to stay more or less fixed for the time being.
Albeit the low pressure area weakens and so do the rainfalls. Except that moist air is still pumped into the southern part of Middle Europe, due to the very warm Mediterranean sea. Places like Southern France and Italy usually get torrential rain during this time of the year, with chaos and flooding in cities. Sometimes this also happens in Spain. Or Croatia, dependent on where the thunderstorms blow up into huge clusters, fueled by the warm sea water.
