The Fuji GFX takes many images in order to cover a slightly larger object - even when i use the largest focus-step "10" in the menu with fixed interval. Even after 50 frames it still did not cover the entire glass, just half of it.
When i did a focus stack in Zerene Stacker, i only used every second photo, e.g. 25 frames which resulted into the above photo (with some adjustments - as well some clean up of finer details via Photoshop AI which takes care of glares and artifacts better, than what i can do manually).
But... it all reminds me more of product photography, and less of something more arty, airy and creative. Oh well, I am learning with the Fujifilm GFX medium format camera.
I am sure a Macro lens would do better (?) because it allows me to get a bit closer... - but I also have theoretical criticism. While the Fujinon GF 120 mm ƒ4 IS Macro is a sharp lens - it only goes to 1:2 - which means only half "macro". That covers the near field, i wouldn't call Macro. Which is all fine and dandy. But it ain't true Macro.
When you install a extender, the optical performance suddenly drops significantly - especially in the corner and borders, due to that the optical design (as most if not all Fujinon GF lenses) exhibit floating lens elements. Those however never play well together with extension rings ! You better avoid them.
So, a lot of money for something relatively limited.
Down to the finest details
Nevertheless, stacking with the Fujinon GF 110mm ƒ2 lens, at wide open aperture ƒ2 and a little bit of Topaz AI sharpening afterwards (after stacking 25 images) - the result shows at 100% lovely amounts of finest details in delightful sharpness.

For amateur use
like here in my "OnMyMind" Diary, this is far more detail than what is needed, for sure. Pretty cool pattern. The water droplets are made out of a mix between glycerin and water (50-50%) Therefore the droplets do not dry out. As usual i simply used the kitchen sink / Board with the LED light from above. Nothing more. Extremely primitive and simplistic. Not always so pretty, but i am OK with that.
My Main Diary photos
often are around 4 MP in real resolution. So, every sensor size is downsize to something around 4 MP (Megapixels, or 4 million pixels) here on the web.
