As I already mentioned - i am not truly an iPad guy. Nevertheless, I did buy a new iPad Pro 11" (M5). The last time I did this was back in 2015, with the iPad Pro 13" (1st gen). So, it's been a long time. And the differences are quite large after 10 years. One thing that I find striking is the thinness of the thing today. Almost too thin *LOL*
I do not like it to handle the new iPad Pro without any protection. It feels as if that thing would fall down, shattering in pieces. Well, it's just a feeling and I am not going to test that. Voluntary or not, i prefer not to.
Cameras in iPad Pro
doesn't even come close to the latest 3 generations iPhones (especially when you enable AppleProRAW, which for example during longer exposures, is perhaps one of the greatest innovations in iPhones ever. The sheer quality you get out of those tiny sensors, turning into truly wonderful images - especially in low light an night time. While at the same time having all the RAW capabilities - is unmatched great rivaling smaller (RAW) cameras such as Olympus for example.
the iPad Pro 11" (M5) cameras, both front and back, are... well... better than the earlier ones (iPad Mini 4 etc) - but still a far cry from the latter iPhones. It is that simple.
So, my photography will transition to an iPad Pro, that is almost 100% certain.
And since it is mounted on a Magic Keyboard for iPad, I'll not be running around making images with the iPad Pro.
In the mean while
I am not writing any kind of "review" or impression about the new iPad Pro 11" (M5). It is surely a very speedy, fluid device. Everything is like liquid glass, literally. Smooth like a kitten - which is an experience i haven't had in an iPad as long as I remember. Browsing in Safari, like scrolling down pages is pretty wow - because the letters in text remain crisp. Quite a delicious experience compared to the slightly flickering scrolling in for example iPad Mini 4, even when it was new.
The Magic Keyboard for iPad (M4), which in essence is absolutely no difference to the newer (M5) version, except that it costs 550+ SEK more in Sweden, compared to the M4 version. Kind of strange. There are no differences what so ever between M4 and M5.
The keyboard, despite being very expensive, is a delight. Very high quality ! like a high quality laptop keyboard. That might explain the high price. You normally don't think of high prices when thinking of keyboards. The iPad version however does turn the iPad Pro into a --------
The keyboard tangents are a delight to write on. The integration between iPad Pro and the keyboard experience is well made.
The only thing i thought was a pity is, that you can't install the iPad Pro in a vertical position when you wish or need to.
It only works horizontally.
Local Silliness
Trying out the selfie camera in the iPad Pro 11" (M5). Nothing to write home about. Sal was just about to get ready in the bathroom, so he looked like a... "rymdfräs" in his hair. (Olof T used to use that Swedish expression / word, for somebody whose hair is totally chaotic. Rymdfräs would be something like "Space Milling machine"

Selfie camera (front camera)
Strangely, the front face camera, uses a 2x digital version - which when saved as a file, looks terrible in quality. Above all - ALL types of digital enlargement is ALWAYS a bad idea in my book. Unfortunately in the iPad pro the selfie camera always reverts to that 2x digital enlarged focal length. So, if you want a wider view (and better overall quality - it is the wide version, which appears to be the native lens - giving off relatively better quality.
Of course, i mean if you are just doing calls over video - then it probably wouldn't matter. Anything goes... sort of. But if you want to make selfie images with the font face camera... well the enlarged 2x digital version just shows awful quality. Not much has changed, i guess....
Funny how slow certain "enhancements" come from Apple. It is like stretching things out with tiny little chunks. And lately the cheated when it comes to iPhone camera, relying on digital "enhancement" (which in reality isn't a new, physical lens - but just a quality lesser version, due to digital enlargement)
Those mobile companies cheat a lot.
And we pay a LOT for it over a decade... or two, when you summarize the total cost - it goes beyond that of the most expensive camera top camera like Canon EOS R1, or Leica M11-P etc.
