24°C
Here in Stockholm, while at the Southeast Coast, a bit inland, registered a whopping 27.5°C today. It is very close to record temperatures - but not quite (for Stockholm), because on 27 April 1993, the temperatures soared after a cold April, very suddenly to 26.4 to 27.0°C. That was an all time high reecord for April in the captial back then.
Now being the first of may, a temperature of 24°C is very close to the roof of what is possible this time of the year in Stockholm. The feeling to experience such warms on your skin is amazing !!
Early leafs
For many years i have seen a trend in which the very first leafs (on trees) came later and later.
But this year - they came unusual early. (Perhaps the mild March is the reasons for that ?) As early as 15 April the leafs on the trees in front of my balcony, started to unfold. The cherry tree then followed soon after; a little bit more than a week later. As of now, 1st May - everything is already very well developed as you can see in the photo above. So, this year, the trend was broken for sure.
Normally i say the very first leafs start to unfold in average around 1 of May. (Bush leafs but also trees in places with strongly exposed sun most of the day, usually 7-8 days earlier).
Condens stripes not dissolving !
The satellite chart looks like having "a hole over Central and North Europe" - as a high pressure area resides there, the air is sinking - and so the coulds dissapeared.
Despite that fact - i see airplane stripes who do not dissolve over our sky. I get suspicious, simply because true condens stripes (water vapor) would immidiately dissolve, due to that the air in a high pressure area sinks - and water vapor should dissolve. Also because the air usually isn't saturated (being dry).
But they don't. So, my suspicion has good reasons about the current airplane stripes not dissolving over Stockholm.
If those are present prior a front - where the air rises - then condens stripes tend to stay much longer. Because the air is rising, so they don't dissolve - unless the air is very dry.
