Isolation / Separation
In this photo, a leaf was sprouting though the old leafs with a green freshness yet so gossamer in its appearance. Thanks to the very bright aperture of ƒ1.7 - the lens separated the leaf from the ground, leaving the latter in a medium blur. Which I then extended with help of Photoshop AI, in order to emulate that lovely, square 6x6 mediumformat look.
How tall did the plant stand above the leafs ? I think around 10 cm or so. Here, the Fujinon GF 55mm ƒ1.7 lens really shows off it's flexibility. It is of course far more useful compared to the bigger Fujinon GF 110mm ƒ2 lens. First you can get closer, seconds it is super bright with ƒ1.7 aperture.
Fujinon GF 110 mm ƒ2
I only bought it because it is far more handy on the GFX camera for portraits, compared to the super chunky Sigma ART 105mm ƒ1.4 lens. That one weights 1.6 kilo (!) and has a filter diameter of something like 105mm.
While the Sigma is truly a fantastic lens; super sharp, exceptionally bright and highly usable on a Fujifilm GFX camera via the Finger EF-GFX adapter. The weight and bulkiness however were not to my liking in real life going out and about. I guess you can call it a "specialty lens".
Therefore, after i had bought the GF 55/1.7 early summer 2025 - i them decided spontaneously Oct 2025, to buy the Fujifilm GF 110/2 as well.

Push, baby push
The original pay-off plan was 3 years
Which I aggressively shortened down to 1 year for both of them ! The 55 lens is almost paid off, while the 110 lens, to 65%. I just didn't want to throw a lot of interest money into the wind over a course of 3 years. Therefore decided to shorten it down considerably. At least I had good character this time, and pulled it though in a consequent way.
I do not regret that - and the lenses are stellar for the Fujifilm GFX. |
