Exciting weather.
Yet, still waiting for DHL to came over with the delivery of the Fujinon lens. Actually - it was exactly the moment DHL delivered the package around 15.40 - the skies opened up big times !
Therefore testing the lens was limited, due to the weather and because i was already deeply tired, as i hadn't slept my "night sleep" yet. The light levels were moderately low due to the thick clouds and heavy rain.
U see rain streaks everywhere in the photo
The photo above perhaps demonstrates best, how heavy the rain actually was (especially when you zoom in a little bit, you see all the rain drop streaks, even in the clouds).
It assume the rain totals, were around 30 mm for my place in Rågsved & Snösätra. Unfortunately I have not activated my rain meter, so i can't tell the exact number. Yeah, why haven't I activated it ?!
There is a place north of Stockholm (Vällnora) which received 46,5 mm within 24 hours. It is located east of Uppsala.
Also Södertälje and Hårsfjärden further south of Stockholm, received a lot with 28 mm (and likely more in total). The city itself seemed to have gotten less than 10 mm.
Inside a Low Pressure Spiral
The center of the low (which was pretty flat with just 1001 hPa only) gave scattered clouds formations and showers across the region. It was anything but uniform. Numerous bulgy shower clouds - fragmented tossed around as rain echoes. It all looked very "chaotic" on the radar.
The rotation of the T-storms & radar echoes where interesting. Out of sea, it went from south to north. But west of us, things came down from the north, going southwards. Like a spiral centered over Stockholm, as the center of the low pressure gradually swooped over our lands.
Now after midnight
the clouds look more uniform gray - while most of the rain echoes have disappeared / thinned out. The light levels are lower than normal (we are still close to midsummer with very bright nights towards the north. Since the thick clouds only have a few gaps - it gives the impression of being in the end of July already. |
