Now that I got the Laina Pentax 645 to GFX adapter which I bought second hand from the UK, and it is a non-electronic, or "dumb"adapter), allowing me to adapt Pentax 645 lenses to the Fujifilm GFX cameras.
I only bought this adapter, because the previous solution with two different adapters caused problems, disabling the image stabilization. Now, that i activated it manually - the lens has support.
And boy, i have to praise this old, cheap lens. Not only does it have a lovely rendering - but at the same time it is sharper than you would expect. The LoCA and finging phenomenas are rather low expect at wide open aperture - but once you stop it down it disappears, especially around aperture ƒ8. Now if you use the lens in black & white - it is absolutely perfet - since those optical errors become invisible.
I got sharp images of Sal both with wide open apertures as well stopped down. Naturally slightly sharper micro details at ƒ8 compared to ƒ3.5
A gentle, perfect portrait lens for medium format
It isn't a harsh lens - and not as long like the Pentax FA 200/4 lens - therefore with an effective focal length of 120mm - the Pentax 645 A 150/3.5 is a really good lens, perfect for portraits. The size is really small in comparison to what you normally are used to with medium format lenses. And it is light.
A perfect get-around lens for portraits "on-the-fly".
I am glad i kept it
not replacing it with the FA 150/2.8 (IF) version, the latter which to my taste and from what i have seen, had severe LoCA and Chromatic abberations - more than the ƒ3.5 version - even when stopped down 1-2 stops - plus that it on the second hand market costs around 5-6 times more than the manual version.
So, no thanks. |
