It took 10 years before I repeated the series of photos; the people of Catania - shot from the hip with a Sony A7s camera + the manual Canon FD 20mm ƒ2.8 lens. Back then it was a series, i made, just hours before i met Sal the first time back in Oct 2014...
Funny, how life plays out sometimes. Albeit, i had the funny feeling that there was more involved than coincidences (given how the story unfolded in bits and pieces through a series of seemingly insignificant decisions up to 1 year before I met Sal)
Anyway - it was not until April 2024 I took images of people in the streets of Catania again (from the hip) with a similar setting; the Canon FD 20/2.8 lens adapted to the Canon EOS R6 instead.
It is a cool way to take images of people "on the fly". You can learn a lot from shooting without actually looking through the camera. I think it is a playful (and experimental) way to do something different. |
