My images
from Stockholm Pride 2026 with the Fujinon GF 500mm ƒ5.6 OIS - which is equivalent to a 400mm ƒ4.4 lens - are not monumentally different in character from those I made last year at Pride 2025, with the Canon EF 200/2 L IS lens.
The background blur are in both cases similar.
It is like having a 2x extender on the Canon EF 200mm ƒ2 L IS lens, turning into a 400mm ƒ4 lens. (Not something I would recommend) - so that is more of a theory. But with it - images would be similar to the Fujinon effective focal length, even in aperture being nearly the same.
No wonder they look more or less similarly. Both produced a lot of background blur, while keeping the main face / portrait sharply in focus.
The real difference however
was and is that a 200 mm lens shows a lot more of the surrounding space at lager distances - compared to an (effective) 400 mm lens, based on a 500 mm lens. In order to get several people in the same frame, they (or I) need to be 25-50 meter away.
Either way
I will again choose the Canon EOS R6 together with a 200mm and 300mm lens next year at Pride 2027
Important
With a big white and less long telephoto lens - you get much more eye contact with the people. And that is a big plus, i think !
Let's go Pride 2025 Portraits
Some i have shown a year ago, others are similiar but not the same, and then there are those which are totally new in my Diary. |
