Going back in time: 18 years !

It is really hard to believe that the imags are now already 18 years old. Going back in time, to my first Pride i took images of in August 2008.

Equipment back then

Here I used my Canon EOS 1D Mark II camera - which was (my first) professional digital camera - with a 1.3x crop factor sensor of 8 MP - so so called dSLR type of camera, with mirror - and an AF which at times could go out of alignment, which created problems with correct focus.

Canon EF 300 mm ƒ 4 L IS lens

Due to the smaller sensor, the effective focal length was in fact equivalent to a 360 mm ƒ 4 lens. Not totally unlike the effective focal length of a Fujinon 500/5.6 on a GFX camera = 400 mm ƒ 4.4

Using the "Ring of Fire" type of focus in that camera, the focus in my Canon EOS 1D Mark II wasn't always hitting correctly... as things went fast, or too many faces appeared at the same time, that I remember. Plus i was rather a newbie when it was about moving crowds. I used to use a single focus point in AF-S mode - and now i had to rethink and test myself forward through the years, using AF-C focus and multiple points.

I stood perhaps 3-6 meters away from the passing people, sometimes less.

Oh... and it was raining

Not strongly at first (but later) - and persistently in a typical manner of August summer showers in Stockholm. Very common. I will divide the images from Pride 2008, because i prepared around... 40 photos.

Here comes the first part out of two from 2008
