Amazing Cheesecake

After work this morning, i went to Högdalen - where they sell this absolutely amazing cheesecake (i think they make themselves). It reminds me of a soft polish version, with eggs and absolutely fantastic creamy soft (but not too soft) texture... and such a lovely taste. Not cheap with 65 SEK for a little piece - but it is worth it, because the taste and everything is just perfect.

So, i sat there, enjoying the cakes - and then went with the local buss 744 home - which goes all the way up to the hill where we live.

Near the buss stop

As I went off the buss, i saw these flowers... and almost passing by - but then stopped - thinking, they are so lovely. With the Samyang XP 85/1.2 lens at wide open aperture ƒ1.2 - giving the flowers that dreamy atmosphere; a combination of sharp and soft. A touch of analogue 4x5 Largeformat Photography, from the old days of the 40s.

I simply love it.

Admirable performance !

For me the Samyang XP 85/1.2 lens really works well on the Fujifilm GFX 100s II camera. It ain't perfect - but boy i performs two notches better than my old Canon FD 85/1.2 L lens for sure ! I mean at wide open aperture of ƒ 1.2 - which is optically demanding - it does deliver. The colors are clear, the LoCA remains within limits and are largely correctable.

It doesn't glare, haze or has too low contrast at that ultra bright aperture; whether in low light or in daylight.

What is there not to like ? It is performing admirably, despite that the very extreme corners ain't sharp - but at ƒ1.2 it never matters. You never notice that, because the area is always outside of the focus anyway.

Despite the size of the Samyang XP 85/1.2

of the Samyang lens, and it's large diameter of 86mm Ø - I don't mind neither size nor weight (Which surprized me). I also love the rounded shapes of this lens, making it nice to hold, as well the way you focus manually - is silky smooth.

I am truly positively surprised how beautiful this lens works on a GFX camera. I even prefer it on the GFX compared to a Canon EOS R6 camera.

I am also glad that i chose this lens over an expensive Fujinon GF 80/1.7, alternative the latest Meike AF 85mm f/1.8 (for GFX) lens that's just been introduced (with bad extreme corners, but good center sharpness). For the same price, i got the Samyang XP 85/1.2 - giving me the flexibility between extreme bright aperture and very shallow sharpness - as well being a very sharp lens, say ƒ5.6 or ƒ8.

ƒ1.2

Plus - it covers the larger GFX sensor well and i have no problems with vignetting being disturbing. At aperture ƒ1.2 it is part of the imagery of course, having darker corners.

ƒ 8

By ƒ8 sharpness moves all across the GFX sensor frame right into the extreme corners.
No vignetting.
