Along age
It isn't as easy to make good - or better said, favorable portraits, as you age / as people age. Whether those are selfies or taking photos of other people. It is just the way it is. Now and then, it works better than anticipated, though - and the former beauty shines though in people in portrait photos (regardless their older age).
There also seem to be a disadvantage visually, when people have too much weight - it does often (not always) but quite often give their natural beauty a disfavor. I notice that in myself, as well in Sal - since he is the closest person to me, and i myself too see the "progress". Or "regress". Or age-process.... whatever; that a slightly slimmer face often does favor the natural look people have inherently (which is often better than what they themselves say it is).
Always will
And yet - portraits of people - is perhaps the most interesting area of all in photography - especially over a long time, you realize that it seems to touch a soul, mind or thoughts more than many images of other things do over time. It is as if portraits (of most kind) seem to age better than most other objects. |
