String of Pearls

We are now at the end of the month of August - which means, Autumn enters the European realm first in Scandinavia. The prognosis for the next 7 days, indicates that we get another couple of summery days above 20°C - and then that's it.

Then a string of pearls with low pressure areas - one after the other - will pass across Scandinavia with a lot more unstable, changeable and more rainy weather. MAX temperatures falling below 20°C, probably more in line with 14-16°C.

Well, this change also means more water to the soil and nature - which surely is needed - given the lack of it during August.

Yeah, autumn is coming. This year it already looks partially like autumn - but only because of the drought, which made leafs yellowing and falling to the ground already. Looks kind of weird; that already in the end of August you get the typical signs of autumn with yellow leafs on the ground...

6-25% Precipitation of normal average (Stockholm)

In the Stockholm region you see that the monthly precipitation for 1-24 August 2026, has been scarce; only 6-25% of what we consider normal for this time of the year. Nature looks dry for the most, causing the premature fall of leafs now that many gotten yellow already. Especially birches. Also Pine trees show a lot of yellow needles, giving an indication of that they are stressed.

If does of course depend on where they grow. Here, in front of our balcony, which is on top of a stony hill - the trees show much more stress, because their roots don't get into the deeper regions of the soil/grounds. While trees further down the valley, look a lot greener.

Temperatures this far

Even temperature-wise the month of August this far, hasn't been particularly warm; In line with July 2026, showing rather restrained temperatures - or better said, over large portion of the country, it has been a bit colder than normal, compared to the past 30 years average (1990-2020).

So. There is that.
