Sunshine hours have been lacking again during the 17 days of February 2024.
While in January we got slightly better sunshine hours compared to average - after a dreadful dull half of October, whole November and December... It is mainly the (predominantly) mild weather in February which have contributed to a sunshine deficit (this far). Yet we did have moderate cold as well plenty of snow, too. So, a typical Scandinavian Winter month - as always often unsteady, as new cyclones rave around over Middle and Northern Europe, like cars on a highway.
So, Nothing new on the horizon.
January however had, despite the mild ending, in total a colder than normal weather. Around -1.5°C colder than average. That is because of the extreme cold during the first weeks in January.
Sunshine outlook
Isn't promising at all. GFS insists on 14 days of overcast weather. If that comes true - then February 2024 would become an extremely poor month. Something like 1 hour per day in average, instead of normal 3 hours; e.g. 1 hour isn't much better than other already very poor winter months he had.
We shall see.
It isn't the first time American GFS made stupid prognosis, and changing totally after 6-12 hours. However, there are now many fronts about to swoop up towards Scandinavia - like a highway. So, yeah - in the next 5 days i don't think we gonna see much sun.
Nothing new on the horizon, either.
