As i go out standing at our balcony, my thermometer measures +14.6°C - and the air feels like real springtime. In a way, that is more normal like one of the first May days (in average).

The weather situation is unusual, as it looks like a huge Omega situation - with a blocking high pressure area, pushing mild air way high up over Europe. North of Stockholm, the jet-stream races with high winds over our lands - and it is even at the ground sometimes a bit gusty. But the sun is shining - and we only have a thin layer of high clouds. South of Stockholm it is clear - and there too, temperatures rise up to 15°C (this far).

It feels remarkable - absolutely wonderful. Has this happened before ?

Additional info:
Stockholm City had a preliminary maximum of "only" +13.0°C on 6 March 2025, while Stockholm-Tullinge which is marks the outer suburbs of Southern Stockholm (country side) has a whopping +15.6°C. (I still have to check the final numbers.

(Addition: Yes, the verified final Max at Tullinge station was 15.6°C. As well a high located MIN temperature of 8.3°C).

Likewise it confirmed that i saw temperatures at my thermometer, i almost thought they were slightly wrong... But were not, it showed (when i looked) it was 14.5°C. Indeed warmer south of Stockholm compared to the city center.

The final Max in Snösätra where I live, was +14.8°C.

8 Mar 2015 in Stockholm: +16°C.

Well, on 8 March 2015, the temperature rose suddenly to +15.8 - 16.1°C - marking it the warmest day ever to have occurred in Stockholm history THAT EARLY in the month of march. That too felt amazing, and almost unreal. However, I see photos from 21 March 2015 - and everything was covered in deep snow again... So, there is that, too.

Re-checked info:

Tullinge reported +16.1°C on 8 March 2015.
Stockholm City reported +15.8°C on 8 March 2015.

Nevertheless, I certainly don't mind mild weather - that is for sure !!!!

This weather will continue a couple of days with possibly similar temperatures, and then go down briefly into more "winter like" temperatures. And from there, gradually warming up again (yet with chilly nights).

Mild night with +9°C

Speaking of nights; the strong winds mixing the atmosphere together with the generally mild air, made the minimum temperatures stay around 9°C at night. Also that is really remarkable. But not unusual when you look at the weather situation. You can literally see how the high pressure area pushes up / leads the way up mild air to Scandinavia. Like in a bow. But the winds - well, I hear them howling at my balcony. It comes and goes.

And no, we have no leafs on our trees. That doesn't happen until 1 May.

Sicily: +15°C

Temperatures in Catania (east Sicily) are similar: 15°C. But they have overcast weather there, which keeps the temperature down. On the slopes of Etna, in Mascalucia it is only 12°C. And good ol' Nicolosi at 750 meter, even further up towards Etna volcano, only has 8°C.
