(Part 3)
In the end
I ask myself... why am i Doing this ? Why did the Vertex method create such a huge buzz inside of me... and now it feels a bit off ? Well, i assume that I need to do ALOT MORE images outdoors, in order to get "the hang of it". Does it have any true advantages ?
No. Not really. I mean, whatever I do with Pentax 6x7 lenses and the rotating Vertex method... can be done with the native lenses from Fujifilm, designed for the Fujifilm GFX cameras. You don't need a bigger sensor or an emulated 7x7 cm sensor...
However, I loved the idea, to use old vintage 6x7 Pentax lenses - by using them literally as if i had a real digital camera with huge 7x7 cm sensor.
If adapting Pentax 6x7 lenses directly (44x33 mm)
When using Pentax 6x7 lenses directly on a Fujifilm GFX camera, with a normal adapter - then the quality is often much better (especially stopped down), because you are only using the center portion of that lens (e.g. the image sensor area of the GFX camera; 33x44 mm)
I also would say; that in general the Mamiya RZ67 lenses are optically better then the Pentax 6x7 lenses. But keep in mind, when a lens doesn't perform so well on a DIGITAL sensor, then that doesn't truly say, if a lens is bad or not. Because each sensor, has differently thick glass mounted on top - which directly affects the optical performance of any lens.
