Speaking about unusual summer temperatures: The area north of Stockholm was among the warmest places in Europe - with temperatures up to 22.2°C in a little place called Film. Uppsala recorded 21.8°C (yesterday 21.2°). Stockholm city was right below 20°C, and the same in Snösätra where I live.

Fascinating !!!!

Something wicked coming our way

A coldfront with a lot colder air flowing down over Scandinavia very soon. You can clearly see that front in the satellite chart above. Late evening (now), we have 0 to 6°C north of the front, and 10-15°C south of the front.

Get ready for "Winter"

On Saturday, in less than 2 days, the prognosis calls for possible snow showers, and a MAX temperature between a mere 2-6°C. Talk about a vast shift. Then it bounces kind of back to normal temperatures this time of the year. What is that ? Well the average MAX lies around 6-8°C, and the MIN around 0°C. Possibly up to 10°C around 8 April.

So, there is that.

More winter-like conditions ahead ?

GFS really often appears to bounces back into a model prediction of a second "winter-like" period for Stockholm for the time period of 10-14 April. It has been shifting back and forth constantly. Sometimes warm, sometimes winter-like. Yet, it seems to go back to that winter scenario persistently.

If true, it would get overcast, even leaving a couple cm snow on the ground, with a MAX temperature around 0°C, and night temperatures around -3°C.

Clearly winter-like.

If that comes true.

Walking though Summer !

It was almost surreal. T-Shirt and a light shirt above. That's it.

I am not sure if i ever have done that during the first days of April. Perhaps once, when i remember that i dragged Claus out of the house, to go to a café, because during only once single day, a warm air sector would cover Stockholm giving higher temperatures (something like 15-18°C.) which i thought was most exotic. So, i said ä let's punch it - let's go out. But that's about the only time i can remember of near summer like conditions so early in April.

Today - we had a totally deep blue sky

Lovely warm short of 20°C. Going into the suburb center, buying some groceries. I mean we are writing only 3 April. This time of the year, you can have sometimes more winter than springtime. Freezing nights are very common.

On the other hand - in April, you do get a lot more sunshine.

Except last year in April 2024 [pink line] - which had even fewer sunshine hours than the previous month of March 2024. It think the daily average was just 4 hours, compared to 8-9 hours in the past April years. The Clouds just wouldn't stop.

It was really odd. See for yourself in the chart below.

Notice also

that one month later in May 2024 - it got super sunny - shoot up like a rocket to a daily average of 12.5 hours. CLose to record levels in Stockholm, which was registered in May 2018 with a whopping 13.8 hours per day.

But so far in March 2025

we have had plenty of sunshine, exceeding 6 hours per day. [red line]

Really, truly inspiring

Hormones and all. Not to mention the increased amount of light we've already gotten lately... Ah... Fantastic. At times even demanding, I've noticed.

Spring is at times like a good friend taking you out for a beautful walk. Other times acting like a teenager pulling your jacket like "crazy", full of joy, funny ideas and when you don't react much - looking at you, as if asking 'why aren't you on the same page with me.... party pooper".

So yeah, springtime can be a bit demanding at times - with all that sudden light flooding as if somebody switch on all lights, while hormones go dancing and you think "oh, now i have to do a lot of things..."

Nevertheless - it still simply a wonderful time. Awakening. Youthful for young and old. Inviting you to a dance under the sun. Not to mention all the early (types of) flowers that spring forth, giving pleasure to eyes who take their time to reply their beauty.
