Summer's unusual early visit yesterday was truly mesmerizing - given that the temperatures reached up to a whopping 22.2°C in a place called Film, located north of Stockholm, in an area called Uppland. At the same time, it was an area among the warmest places in Europe. Only Belgium/Holland area, Northern and middle Italy as well Cyprus showed equivalent temperatures or a notch higher.

Even Lisbon with 19°C or Catania in Sicily 19°C, couldn't compete with the 22.2°C measured in the village of Film. Berlin brought it to 20°C.

Coldfront passage

Well, a thin coldfront passed with clouds over Stockholm during the latter part of the night. By 0600 when I was on my way home, it cleared up. But standing there at Gullmarsplan, I realized that it felt that unpleasant chill. A slight bite in the air that made you creep deeper into your jacket.

That brief summer visit - was now gone.

Today

the temperature in Stockholm rose to just 10°C, while here in Snösätra to 9°C. Still a bit above normal, but a lot less than yesterday. I am sure frost will grace the outer suburbs tonight. Better get dressed well.

Next days; no snow / winter

It appears to me, that the earlier predicted snow showers will not take place. Also another of those earlier prognosis for the time of 10-14 April, going real winter - appears not to take place, either.

So, in general the outlooks call for lower temperatures, MAX up to 6-10°C, which is normal for this time of the year. One day might even reach to 15°C, but that is still too far away in the prognosis period.

I would say; ordinary April weather in Middle Scandinavia. General frost at night, and colder in the outer suburbs.

Both clouds and sunshine mixed in between. A little bit rain or hail here and there. Some northern winds break'ins likely will happen (making it feel more unpleasant / colder), possibly even a storm passing by, sucking down cold air. Once passing mid April, the sun gets even stronger. We might then see the first daytime sun generated showers / thunderstorms, too. (Likely inland, but most unlikely over Stockholm)

In any case; April business as usual.

Yeah. Indeed. After all.

One driver told me later, that near Farsta (Stockholm Southern Suburb), it snowed like hell (intense). While I was in the Northwest, where no shower were visible. As I arrived at Gullmarsplan, noticing that the station was wet. Thinking... ok, probably it rained briefly.

But as i approached the other platform, i noticed faint white areas... and realized, that it was snow.

Wow.

From Summer to Winter. Sort of.

That it snows on a 5 April is a nothing burger. But it took my by surprize, that some snow actually did reach the ground. Plus the fascinating rapid change between one day 22.2°C down to 0° with snow (North of Stockholm).
