Yes, indeed. A bit warmer air is about to reach our Nordic areas as well. The airmass has already given Southwest and West Europe higher temperatures (10 April 2025), with a MAX around 22-27°C in Spain, 20-25° in France, and even Ireland and Scotland up to 20- 23°C, while the coastal area outside of London to the east, only 12°C. Likely because of dense low clouds or fog, I assuming.

Even the wider Oslo area had temperatures up to 15°C (and yesterday 19°), while we in Stockholm had around 7°C only. Which is slightly lower than normal for this time of the year.

East and North Finland on the other hand, had ice days, with -1°C to -4°C during the day, and ice cold during the nights down to -15°C

So, there is that.

Scandinavia: Is a Sub-Polar to Polar Region !!

I often wonder, if people forget, that being this close to Stockholm, that true ice cold air, could actually at times penetrate our area too. We always think of warm and milder weather over the years - but fail to acknowledge, that we are in a sub polar region. The past has shown how bitter cold it can get - during April !!! We are talking about extremes like -20° and -25°C; both south and north Sweden during April.

What happened. Can happen again.

Short inflow of milder air

to Scandinavia is relatively short. Then replaced by a slightly cooler airmass, but not directly cold, really. On Sunday we might reach 14-15°C while being inside a warm sector of a low pressure area. Perhaps even 18-20°C in SE Sweden. Then it should go down again, but in Stockholm you would still have temperatures at around MAX 10-14°C. With overall changeable weather ahead, and plenty of clouds, it seems.

Well, we shall see.

Prognosis for Sunday, 13 April 2025
