I visited at the place at Älgö outside of Saltjöbaden (15 km outside of Stockholm, located to the east). During summer months it was a place often visited by nude gay people. In the 70s, 80s and 90s a popular sun bath place. There are also straight people, but they are sitting more in the beginning of the cliffs.

How that place is visited today - I have no idea. I have not been there since Aug 2004 with Perry.

Saltjöbaden, Älgö

During the photo-session - it was in the middle of winter, January 1988. A rather mild period for a change. Compared to the bizarre cold January 1987 (and march 1987) - where I visited the same place - but at temperatures of -20°C, freezing my ass off, trying to make some nice images at dusk. (From that cold visit, I got two images published in a Swedish Magazine "Foto" splashed over 3 A4 pages together with a third photo of the Globen Arena still partially visible as a skeleton)

Boy was I proud !

The light was already diminishing when I took images with the big Mamiya RZ67 camera and Ilford Pan F film. When it gets a little bit darker it is very difficult to set the sharpness with the RZ67. So, the self-portrait was slightly out of focus, taking at wide open aperture ƒ2.8

The last photo, and i walked back to the Solsidan station. In 1988 i had already worked as a train conductor for 1 year, at the Saltsjöbanan Railway which connects Stockholm City with Saltjöbaden and Solsidan.
