I might not be exactly has the same "poetic magic" like the TTArtisan 100/2.8 2x Macro has...

The Sigma ART 70/2.8 Macro is doing a great job on its own. However many of my tests images today show that the bokeh "plasticity" isn't present really. Get too close, or a bit further away, or stop down too much - and the bokeh just turns "boring2 (neutral). In some instances the corners have very light swirl - barely visible - but it is there when you see the image smaller.

Sharpness wise, the sigma ART is top notch.

Unique Bokeh Plasticity

The TTArtisan 100 Macro has a more refined background, with a certain type of subject outlines. OR is it the highlights ?

Actually I think I can now describe this special quality of the TTArtisan bokeh; it has a unique plasticity the way it renders blurry background objects. It shows more bokeh texture !

The Sigma... does not. (an most other lenses neither) The Sigma renders the background outlines those a bit more uniform & more diffuse. Both when I get "too close" or further away - the blur becomes just diffuse blurry. Without character. Kind of boring when you become away that a certain poetry is lacking, despite the nice blurriness in the background.

The TTArtisan keeps the blurry outlines in tact while at the same the objects are entirely unsharp. It is a rendering style very close to classic (real) mediumformat photography (6x6, 6x7 and 4x5" large format)

Let's not cut with a razor blade

The Sigma Macro is nice at wide open aperture ƒ2.8 and ƒ4 - but it depends on the distance to the subject. If you get too close, the bokeh is insignificant; just diffuse and blurry without any 3D feel.

It should be noted that on a Fujifilm GFX, the Sigma ART 70 Macro turns into a normal lens of 50mm, while the TTArtisan 100 turns into a 80 mm short telephoto.

Vignetting at this distance ?

The vignetting in the Tulip photo taken the Sigma ART 70, was insignificant. The minimal corner shading as automatically corrected, because my EF-GFX Fringer Pro adapter supports the Sigma lens. Therefore it is recognized by Adobe RAW attached and with the corresponding correction profile.
