The photo above is made with manual focus bracketing (15 images). by simply carefully shifting focus very gently. And then using Zerene Stacker in order to get the images stacked. It really works very well for things like flowers.
It is fun, because you don't need any other expensive equipment. Perhaps for insects on a table (when using manual lenses), but for flowers it is really good enough to do it manually.
I simply love it.
The Pentax 645 FA 120mm ƒ4 Macro works well too. But i prefer to give it a light touch of AI sharpening in the very end. It isn't as extremely sharp like a Sigma ART 70mm ƒ2.8 lens - but once you apply a notch of AI sharpening - it rivals the sharp and defined output just beautifully.
Not really 90 degrees downwards
It should be noted, that the dried tulips above, the flat surface was actually leaning upwards. But thanks to focus bracketing, you get the impression as if you took the photo exactly from above. But as i said, this was not the case, really.
