Surprizingly
The gray sky from last noon, changed into all clear skies during the night, while the temperatures have reached levels between 3-4°C on the plus side. (Which means I can now take a vertical shot of Stockholm with star trails - sweeeet).
So, this mild atlantic air goes moves all the way up to Iceland, creating night temperatures between 7 and 10°C - moves in a bow to the right towards Scandinavia, over the Norwegian Mountains - and even in the Extrem North of Sweden (Laponia) we find temperatures at around 7°C. It affects also most other parts of Scandinavia, after the warm front passed from north to south - which lead to a temperature rise even during a starry night sky over Stockholm - now hovering around 3 to 4°C.
I mean yesterday night, it was still all frosty and felt "cold" (-3°C) in the city.
-10°C in Berlin
While Berlin in Germany - is in this moment one of the coldest places in Europe with a whopping -10°C. (I am only refering to places that aren't located high up in the mountains - just near the ground).
Fascinating
These weather situation - not uncommon at all during winter - are at the same time fascinating. What warmer waters can do, when the airmasses move up to a very high latitude (via the Gulf stream / Atlantic current), bringing temperatures above freezing over parts of West and North Europe.
That is fascinating. i mean in the "middle of winter". Well, December is still only the first winter month - so there will be ice cold airmasses coming - don't worry.
