| It is more definite leaning towards winter in Stockholm in the upcoming weather prognosis. I mean it seems more clear cut out for the nearest future, that the temperature plummet. Well, they've already gone down in temperatures: Stockholm-Tullinge reached almost -10°C last night. The city itself reached -5° something, and Arlanda Airport reached -10°C just an hour ago.
Snow Storm Cyclone incoming
However, clouds from the Northwest now cover large parts of middle Sweden - so the temperatures are slightly rising again. Attached to those clouds, is an incoming snow storm, aiming to move towards Stockholm in the next 48 hours. That means plenty of snow, I am sure.

Up and down
i am not sure how Midnight on New Year's Eve will turn out. It will likely be cloudy - but it appears that the snow fails will not start until at noon. Temperatures hovering around freezing for two days while the center is lingering around over larger Stockholm area. From there on, as it passes away - temperatures will start to sink significantly: down to -12°C. In the outer suburbs likely down to -20°C.

Then, most likely another low pressure area skids across our area (?) - again with temperatures around freezing, with snow, and perhaps even mixed with rain. Once gone, the temperatures fall steeply again.

It is the common song of January
An older saying I remember from the 80s was, that Father Winter doesn't take Stockholm until mid/end of January. It simply takes a while until the capital gets into a deep grip of winter. Until that is final - the weather usually shifts between mild and cold periods all the time; Up and down.

I wish'ya A Happy New Year 2026
